چکیده

*) In this paper, a real time nested microphone array based in the auditory properties of the human ear is presented. Three different stages in the development of the system are described. Firstly, the design of the new auditory-based microphone array is presented, obtaining better noise reduction using the masking properties of the human auditory system. Secondly, we show its validation through a new method called E-RASTI based in the well-known RASTl (Rapid STI Speech Transmission Index -) intelligibility estimator. Additionally to classical enhancement estimators as SNR, NMR (Noise to Masked Ratio) or AI (Articulation Index), E-RASTI is proposed and validated for dereverberation assessment, used here with real speech signals and not with speech-like signals as in the original RASTI method. And finally as third stage, the real time implementation of this highly computing-demanding algorithm through the use of a DSP-based architecture based in the recent floating point TMS320C6701 is described.

A new auditory based microphone array and objective evaluation using e-RASTI

Two are the goals of the work presented in this paper. The first one is the implementation of a new method of speech enhancement using microphone arrays. This method gets noise reduction of speech signal using the masking properties of the human auditory system. The second goal of the paper is to use RASTI index (RApid Speech Transmission Index) for objective evaluation of speech signal quality...

Dsp-implemented Broadband Superdirective Microphone Array with Audible Noise Suppression

In this paper, a novel microphone linear array is proposed and implemented for real-time processing, working on a DSP processor in the frequency domain. The array, which is composed of 15 microphones in nested configuration, combines two multichannel techniques for speech improvement: SuperDirective beamforming (SD) and Audible Noise Suppression (ANS). The SD beamforming technique is an alterna...

A Practical Time - Delay Estimator for Localizing Speech Sourceswith a Microphone

A frequency-domain-based delay estimator is described, designed speci cally for speech signals in a microphone-array environment. It is shown to be capable of obtaining precision delay estimates over a wide range of SNR conditions and is simple enough computationally to make it practical for real-time systems. A location algorithm based upon the delay estimator is then developed. With this algo...

بررسی میزان کاهندگی صدای وسایل حفاظت شنوایی برمبنای روش میکروفن داخل گوش MIRE در شرایط آزمایشگاهی

Introduction: Nominal noise reduction rate of the earmuff manufacturers can be different compared with the actual attenuation rate. The present study aimed to determine the actual noise reduction rate of common hearing protection devices using microphone in real ear method. Materials and Methods: In this study, five brands of common earmuffs used in Iranian industries were investigated on 30...

Performance of directional microphones for hearing aids: real-world versus simulation.

The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of clinical and laboratory measures of directional microphone benefit. Three methods of simulating a noisy restaurant listening situation ([1] a multimicrophone/multiloudspeaker simulation, the R-SPACE, [2] a single noise source behind the listener, and [3] a single noise source above the listener) were evaluated and compared to the "live" co...
